So… here it is, my first blog post.

In researching ways of increasing business exposure I have read countless forums and write ups about ‘connecting with your audience’ and that a blog is the best way to do that. I don’t read blogs, (sorry to anyone I follow that has a blog..) I’m not sure whether its because I don’t have time or because I don’t read, (yeah good luck at Uni this year Lara..) I have never had a blog as I really didn’t think anyone cared that much about what I did and what makes me want to create. I’m an intensely private person (unless you’re my friend then you know pretty much everything about every single second of my life..) which also may explain why I don’t have a personal FB profile; I had one back in 2011 for a few months but just couldn’t stand being ‘exposed’ to people I really didn’t have that much to do with. People I hadn’t spoken to in forever just so we could simply stalk each others photos and look at how old everyone got. I also hated having photos of myself online and have never taken a ‘selfie’. Plus I had a verrrryyy different life 8 years ago before I moved to Tassie, so most of my ‘friends’ were people I didn’t consider as friends anymore, as my real friends are those who I still talk to on the phone like the old days.

But anyway, all of that aside, its taken me a really long time to start my blog; 5 years of being in business this year so I have taken my sweet time, but hopefully it will enable my customers to learn a little bit more about me and what inspires me to do what I do. Also what new projects I have in the works and allow my customers to give me feedback to help my business and ideas grow.

So just a few things to keep this first post short and sweet and not too boring.. 2017 so far has been a little rocky, and the next few months appear a little daunting. This week my baby girl Billie turns 5, and also starts Kinder. I am still trying to get my head around it as things are going to be soo different from now (early mornings for starters..) I also start my Uni degree in 2 weeks and have no idea how I feel about it anymore (and all that reading…) but I made the decision to do it and I am not a quitter so I am just going to have to deal with it.

My design work has consumed the majority of the last 12 months, I have been doing design projects for people all over the world which has totally blown my mind, and they have all been women in business which I LOVE. I have just recently started a Branding job for a Lavender Farm in Ontario, Canada, a couple that simply found me online and wanted to work with me. Me! a stay at home Mum in Tassie that goes to work in her slippers. I definitely have the best job in the world!

I have just started a few mood boards for my next series of drawings, and am looking into going in to more stationery, notebooks and things like that. Things that people can really use rather than a print for the mantelpiece, or wherever you put it.. I am looking at using more greens and blues, as green is Pantone’s colour of the year I will jump on that.

So there you go, not sure how interesting any of that was and I thank anyone who is reading this! I am looking forward to connecting more with those lovely people who have been loyal to my little business over the last few years, I really appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. Without you I would not be able to do what I do, what I love to do, and have any kind of success, so THANKYOU!!

xx Lara
